海豚一般指鲸目齿鲸亚目海豚科成员,白鳍豚是河豚科的,严格来说不是海豚
海豚科Delphinidae是鲸目中种类最多也是人们最熟悉的一科,其成员的体型和习性有一定的差异,可以分成几个不同的亚科,也有人分出不同的科.海豚科成员多数体型较小,包括体型最小的鲸类,以鱼或软体动物为食,也有些体型较大,可以捕食其它海兽.海豚科从外形上可以区分称长喙、短喙和无喙的,背上多数有背鳍,也有少数无背鳍.海豚科成员以在热带沿海最为丰富,但是其它各海域也能见到,有些则可深入河流中.海豚科中最著名的成员当属宽吻海豚Tursiops truncatus,即常在海洋馆进行表演的海豚.宽吻海豚分布广泛,各大海洋的沿海和远洋均有分布,不同成员彼此有一定区别,有人将其分成几个不同的种类,其中有些宽吻海豚体型较大,是体型最大的有喙海豚.海豚科另一个著名的成员是逆戟鲸Orcinus orca,逆戟鲸又称虎鲸、杀人鲸,是海豚科体型最大的种类,也是所有海兽中最凶猛的.逆戟鲸和宽吻海豚一样分布广泛,也被用来驯化表演,逆戟鲸中不同的群体食性不很相同,除了著名的以其它海兽为食的种群外,还有一些以鱼和乌贼等为食.海豚科中进入淡水生活的成员以亚马孙白海豚Sotalia fluviatilis为代表.亚马孙白海豚体型很小,是最小的长喙海豚,外形似较小型的亚马孙河豚,但是更喜欢比较开阔的水域,不象亚马孙河豚那样会进入水淹森林中.http://www.csdyzx.com/swtd/dongwu/jzdwm/frdwm33.htm
